Clinton Avenue Memoirs (#5.16)
ComedyFan201014 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Sophia starts losing her memories from the time with her husband and it worries her. To her it is the same as losing herself. In order to do something against it her and Dorothy travel all the way to their old home and go inside to bring the memories back. And Salvadore is also visiting her from heaven.

A sweet and heartwarming episode about one of the most devastating problems one can get with age: losing the memories. And they deal with it greatly and give us a positive ending.

The Puerto Rican who lives in their old apartment was a fun character. "Don't take anything" and "Puerto Ricans can ice skate" were bot great lines

Going back home can sometimes be rewarding.

Warning: Spoilers
When Sophia's anniversary comes up, she realizes that she is losing her memory and decides to revisit her old home in Brooklyn. She's especially looking for a heart Sal carved into the kitchen pantry wall but all she can find is the height charts that Sal put in for the kids. There's a flashback with a pre-teen Dorothy, a younger Sophia and Sal, dealing with the arrival of baby Phil, and later on, the Sal we've always seen in other flashbacks (Sid Melton). Sophia gets to be quite a bit gentler and far more sentimental.

The other plotline is minor and inconsiquential, showing what happens when Blanche goes to work with rose, collecting insurance information and spending more time flirting with thr single men than getting the job done. It covers only about 5 minutes and is deservedly forgotten very quickly. The sentimental aspects of the plot are much better, showing Dorothy and Sophia at their closest, and the fear a senior citizen has of losing their most precious memories, even something that a young person can relate to as well.
