The Monkey Show (#7.8)

Warning: Spoilers
To get over Dorothy and Sophia Stan goes through a monkey therapy where he dates a toy monkey. And Dorothy's sister Gloria is now broke after her husband died and comes over for a visit. Sophia hooks her up with Stan but when Dorothy finds this out she is especially mad at her mother.

A great episode. Loved the whole story with the monkey. Stan was hilarious with it, especially with his attachment to it and not wanting to give it away.

Dorothy's sister is annoying, it is amazing they got along so well. Maybe since it is the last season they are trying to wrap it up well

Warning: Spoilers
If only her faint was as believable as her line delivery. It's one of Bea Arthur's best moments, in someone else's case a throwaway line but in hers, top sirloin. Gloria, Dorothy sister, is visiting, now played by Dena Dietrich AKA Mother Nature, and looking more like Dorothy's sister than Doris Belack. Dorothy doesn't believe that there's a hurricane a-comin', but Sophia is proven to be right. Blanche agrees to assist Rose at a fundraiser to restore the McKinley lighthouse, basically taking over the entertainment and even rejecting Kitty Carlisle Hart. Meanwhile, Stan has replaced his obsession with Dorothy and Sophia by putting his attention on to a fake monkey, and Dorothy is upset when Stan ends up in bed with Gloria. Lots of plot line to be covered yet very funny where even Uncle Angelo makes an appearance as well as Carol (Dinah Manoff) from next door, dating Stan's therapist (Steve Landsburg) who has told her all about Stan's treatment. Dorothy, usually no nonsense and understanding, seems to take pleasure like Sophia usually does in Gloria's bad luck. Lots of memorable moments here, even if the Stan/monkey storyline is ridiculous.
