Valentine's Day (#4.15)

Warning: Spoilers
It is Valentines Day and girls one y one are being stood up y their dates. So they have some cake and remember previous Valentines days. Sophia how she was around A Valentine's day massacre, how Blanche, Dorothy and Rose ended up in a nudist colony, how Blanche helped out a guy about to propose and how they all wanted to buy condoms for the cruise.

An entertaining episode. I liked the nudist story besides the final joke that was just ageist. It is not like any of the other people in that restaurant were supermodels to look at. Condoms story was funny as well. And I loved Sophia having a date with Julio Iglesias!

It's Valentine's day, and the girls are all dressed up, with nowhere to go, all are stood up, and instead take a trip down memory lane.

Classic episode, this is an incredibly funny episode, hilarious from start to finish, I just love the scrapes the girls seem to get into.

That segment where Rose books herself, Dorothy and Blanche into a nudist hotel, that was painfully funny, plenty of jokes about men's bits, and that moment where the girls walk into the restaurant is side splitting.

That scene in the shop was incredibly funny, I had to rewind it back, hilarious.

The icing on the cake, Julio!!!!!

Rue McClanahan is an absolute joy from start to finish, she gets the bulk of the action on this episode, she's dazzling in every scene.

Glorious.

9/10.

A St. Valentine's Day massacre, a nudist camp, a gay romance, a little investment in the rubber industry. All a part of newly filmed scenes of past moments I their lives, it is a truly wonderful episode.

"His klinginschpritzer's showing!" Rose exclaims after one of Dorothy's overexcited "Woh!" (heard every time that Dorothy saw a naked man) leads to an embarrassing situation when they arrive for dinner. Sophia, husband Sid Melton and papa Bill Dana get a bang out of a Chicago visit in the 1940's (long after THE Chicago Valentine's Day massacre, and Blanche celebrates her anniversary right after her husband's death, only to advise a young man on the verge of proposing, with a twist.

Then there's their visit to a drug store where their attempts at buying "protection" which of course results on the inevitable price check. It mixes comedy with social consciousness. This episode is a heartwarming and funny collection of individual stories. It culminates with a cameo by Julio Inglesias on a surprise date with one of the girls.
