"My Son, the Father" opens with JJ planning to take brother Michael to a father-son dinner, in the absence of their late father. Florida marvels at the pipe in his mouth, noting that he doesn't smoke: "neither does the pipe!" All dressed up and ready to leave, JJ is crushed when Michael reveals that he'd already asked his boss Carl Dixon (Moses Gunn) to take him. Despite Carl's insistence that JJ be the man to go with Michael, he takes umbrage at the suggestion and storms out to who knows where. He and Carl agree to have it out in a gym, a heart to heart about JJ trying so hard to fill his late father's shoes. There would be more like this next season.
