When Morse says "Man was born free but everywhere he is in the property chain" he is intentionally misquoting Jean-Jacques Rousseau in The Social Contract: "Man is born free, and everywhere he is in chains."
The final rave scene was shot on location at Mentmore Towers in exactly the same spot that had been used ten years previously for the video of Roxy Music's "Avalon", starring Sophie Ward.
