Has three actors with leading or supporting roles in one or other of the two Morse spin-offs. Kevin Whately and Clare Holman continue in the same roles in the sequel series 'Inspector Lewis', and Roger Allam plays the young Morse's boss DI Fred Thursday in the prequel 'Endeavour'.
After years of speculation, the tv audience are finally told Morse's actual first name. Until now, they've been teased with the enigmatic nickname "Pagan", and the computer screen listing him as "E.Morse". The prequel series, and the following series "Lewis" would use it, but new viewers may not realise its true significance. (The actual first name is listed in the Spoilers for this episode)
The first episode of Morse to be broadcast in widescreen, although the framing of certain shots suggests that the episode may have actually been retrospectively letterboxed to remove the top and bottom frame to fit it into a 9:16 screen. Possibly a business decision by Carlton to fill a widescreen, as they were only becoming into use around this period.
Not only did Kevin Whateley and Claire Holman star in the sequel series to Inspector Morse (Inspector Lewis), and Roger Allam in the prequel (Endeavour); John Shrapnel starred as Morse himself in the BBC radio version, which can be found on Audible.
Morse indicates that he and Strange are the same age. The series Endeavour explores their years coming up in the force and why Strange is ranked higher then Morse.
