IT TAKES A THIEF Episode with Karin DOR
ZeddaZogenau24 March 2024
In the seventh episode of the third season, master thief Al Mundy (Robert WAGNER), who works for a secret service, ends up in the city of Rome. There he not only had to deal with his long-fingered father (ACADEMY AWARD nominee Fred ASTAIRE, nominated for THE TOWERING INFERNO in 1975), but also with a beautiful guest star from German-speaking countries.

Karin DOR (1938-2017), born in Wiesbaden, plays an attractive art curator named Angela, who is responsible for protecting the THREE VIRGINS OF ROME: three paintings that are exhibited at the Roman Forum. Karin DOR wears beautiful summer dresses in this episode and has a breathtaking scene in the Roman Forum together with Robert WAGNER. The German diva is also briefly in the picture with the dance legend Fred ASTAIRE. After her appearances as a Bond girl in YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE (1967) and in Alfred HITCHCOCK's TOPAS (1968), Karin DOR was no longer unknown to American television audiences. In German-speaking countries she had long been a sought-after film star thanks to Edgar Wallace films such as DER GRÜNE BOGENSCHÜTZE / THE GREEN ARCHER (1961), Karl May films such as DER SCHATZ IM SILBERSEE / THE TREASURE IN THE SILVER LAKE (1962) and horror thrillers such as DIE UNSICHTBAREN KRALLEN DES DOKTOR MABUSE / THE INVISIBLE DOCTOR MABUSE (1962). .

The episode of IT TAKES A THIEF was broadcast for the first time on November 6th, 1969. Other roles include Edmund PURDOM (THE EGYPTIAN), Victor BUONO (LO STRANGOLATORE DI VIENNA / ACADEMY AWARD nomination 1963 for WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE?) and the Italian actor Massimo SERATO (COSTANTINO IL GRANDE).

This wonderful television episode was directed by Jack ARNOLD (TARANTULA). The man knew what he could do! The pictures of the balloons that land from the Colosseum over the Subura in the middle of Villa Borghese are particularly successful.

Television used to be so beautiful!
