A farewell of a fantastic Irwin Allen series, Graveyard of Fools was the last time the littles ones were seen in Giant Planet, they returned there or were forgotten for good??
elo-equipamentos23 April 2023
In the last episode hardly point out as science fiction as planned before, the earthlings are caught by a giant scientist Melzac (Albert Salmi) on double role with his twin brother Brik that possible was in another continent on giant planet, the same premise in second season episode "Land of the Lost" when ours heroes crossing the giant sea by ballon.

This turn Captain Burton, Dan, Valerie and Fitzhugh are transported by an small airplane that was driven by remote control and the advanced complex center computer, it somehow steer the airplane into overseas until the land self-called graveyard of fools, in a remote side of the giant planet where anybody returns, seems implausible at first glance due Brik is there in a cave where both bros find out an proto alien powerful device designated servo-actuator that was left there maybe thousand years by an advanced alien civilization, nevertheless the own device has a glitch, due the size of device just the little people can fix inside on narrow space.

Meanwhile at Giant city Mark and Betty try sabotage the electric panel aiming for collapse the energy attempting to making damages in the complex to avoid the airplane take off, sad he fails and aftermaths captured by Melzac and put in a triangle force field in order to don't intervene in the operation, in the meantime Betty in outside try helping Mark set free from there, back on graveyard of fools its have many tombs at foggy forest including Captain Burton tombstone and Fitzhugh as well, just for a beak offering.

At alien device Brik demands Capt. Burton assemble a suppose missing piece that will fix the flaw that hinder the perfect operation, after that such twin brother can rule the giant world to their own liking, however something goes wrong and all them must get out of there due the servo-actuator is getting too hot and potentially going blast soon.

The last time of earthlings there is sorrowful faced for me, in my childhood I used to play this show at my grandfather backyard, together my little friends we built a wooden spaceship with scarce materials, as lamps, hand control using an old iron pump, to cover the roof we used a zinc sheet, the seats were made by useless wooden planks, it's was recorded at my own drawings, already that such improvised Spindrift in no longer exist, however the place was there still empty, maybe when I'll be retired I'll be able to make something better!!

Thanks for reading.

The earthlings are sent to the other end of the land known as The Graveyard Of Fools.

A 1993 book called, The Giants are Coming, has suggested that this episode and another season two episode, Land Of The Lost, are linked. What do you think? Is the "Land Of The Lost" and the "Graveyard" actually the same place?

I was a bit uncomfortable with the cheap old-fashioned directing trick of getting Steve and Fitz to grab someone in the graveyard. Considering where they were you would think they would talk instead of grab. A couple of other less important problems in the hour as well...but other than that...Graveyard Of Fools in fine.

You could watch this with the volume down to get the full enjoyment from it. The hour just jumps from one great colourful image or set to another. Fans of Irwin Allen's City Beneath The Sea (1971) will see a set from that film in here. Also, part of submarine Seaview is present.

This is all style-over-substance stuff, if you are looking for great storytelling you may struggle with the hour, but if you want to see "manchild" Irwin Allen playing in his graveyard backyard...you just might get a blast from it.

50 Minutes of BS

Warning: Spoilers
This is Irwin Allen Productions at its worst, a tail-end of series mishmash of mumbo-jumbo and weird, senseless visual effects.

Several of the "little people" are captured and sent to the other side of the planet in a miniature radio-controlled plane(!). There, they meet the twin brother of the guy who sent them there (to no dramatic purpose, though it does save Allen the cost of hiring another actor). The brother (or rather, the script) puts them through several nightmare scenarios, only to eventually reveal the real reason for their having been sent to him. This purpose is hinted at ominously throughout the episode, and of course it's a huge letdown; he wants them to install a small piece of machinery in a place he can't reach! The episode ends with Allen's favorite fall-back, blowing everything up.

The guest actors are pretty bad, though they certainly don't have much to work with. The nightmare scenarios allow for some time-killing homages to old horror movies and Allen's own "Lost World" (from which it appears footage was lifted). About the only passable moments are when Fitzugh and Dan are confronted with their fears, which are at least in keeping with their established personalities.

I always liked LOTG, and was sorry it didn't get renewed for a third season, but if this was all they could come up with after only two years, perhaps it was best to leave well enough alone.

The Final Episode
fcabanski9 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
There's not much to this episode, and what's in it doesn't make much sense.

A scientist sends Steve, Val, Dan and Fitz to the other side of the world in a remote control model airplane. In fact, it's the plane from "A Small War".

When there's trouble with the plane, the giant scientist and his twin brother, waiting the little people's arrival at the Graveyard of Fools, use an alien machine to teleport the humans and the plane to the place. Why he didn't just use the teleporter in the first place is a mystery.

The whole plan was to get a tiny part to the brother, who would then have the little people fix the alien machine so it could increase its operation to full power mode. But for some reason he couldn't just place them in the machine. They had to stumble into it after a series of deadly "tests".

Um, OK.

Valeria screams a lot. Her low cut dress gets a fabric cover to raise the bust line, but in some scenes it's missing.

Mark fixes the scientists giant remote power station, remote control so he can use the plane to get Steve and the gang home. But then, again, the plane is barely in the air before the alien machine teleports them back to their side of the world.

At one point, Mark is held in a a triangle force field cell. But somehow he and Betty pass between two of the pylons without getting vaporized. Mark then shorts out the cell so he can walk back through way he and Betty were already able to pass before Mark shorted the cell.

In the end, the alien machine blows up. It causes the scientist's gear, at the other side of the world, to blow up, presumably because of a power transfer.

The humans run back into the forest towards their camp. That's the last of Land of the Giants.

They never got home. There were no remakes or movies.

Betty kind of saves Mark, even though they move freely between the pylons even before they're shorted. Poor Barry and Chipper have nothing to do but stand around waiting for the others.

The alien compound containing the machine is pretty nifty.

Fantastic Episode
HawksRevenge26 October 2009
I think that we all would have liked an episode where the seven travelers and "Chipper" were sent home, but unfortunately that was not the way that Irwin Allen's series ended.

The Graveyard Of Fools was the final episode of Land Of The Giants and since today what you get is 42 mins of 22 episode seasons and Land Of the Giants had 26 episodes one season and 25 the last and the shows lasted 51 minutes each This final episode was one where they were sent to the other side of the planet to a supposed suicide mission with a twin look alike brother who simply wants them to replace a part in a machine This series is another victim of summer cancellation expecting a 3rd season and there is no final episode really...
