Another episode where the girls don't act together because of their infamous backstage feuding. Shirley exits the stage after the first 60 seconds only to return in the final 60 seconds. It reminds me of those awful Chrissy Snow clips at the end of Three's Company when the other stars wouldn't work with her. It's so sad seeing things come to this.
Once Shirley exits, Laverne accepts a date from a guy who would raise red flags with anyone with half a brain. But not Laverne, because she's a 3 syllable word......No not "Dumb Bimbo", but "romantic" as Carmine says to her.
She goes to a restaurant with the guy and as soon as you see the huge fish tank, you just know Laverne is going to end up in there. When you see the jokes coming at you a mile away, it's not as funny.
I did laugh at the sight of the purse contents floating to the top when she opened it underwater, but otherwise it all fell flat for me.
You just wonder why she stayed in there and also why management didn't come to fish her out and kick her out of the restaurant.
I think it would've been funny if Shirley was there and they both fell in together. But it seems at this point in time they really didn't want to work together anymore, and it sadly affected the show.
I give it 4 stars for the purse because it was a funny visual.
