I do enjoy the premise and the model taking photos of herself was pre selfie. It's a good show.

Laverne is no Lucy

Laverne is dating some middle aged guy named Mike who likes to wear half opened shirts that displays his graying chest hairs. He's a fashion photographer and one of his models just walks into Laverne's apartment like she owns the place, chats with him for a minute and leaves. Weird. I shouldn't make fun of Mike because according to the actor's IMDB page, he had already passed away from a car accident 4 months before this episode aired. Sad. But i'm making fun of the character, not the actor so it's ok.
The model Monique is played by a very young looking Joanna Kerns before she found fame with the much better sitcom "Growing Pains". Anyway, back to this mediocre show...
To my eyes relief, Mike finally puts on a tux to cover his graying chest and puts on a fashion show where a jealous Laverne is hiding in the dressing room because she thinks Mike and Monique are more than friends.
Because of Laverne's petty jealousy, she manages to get Monique out of the way and out of the fashion show and hilarity ensues when she takes her place in it. Well it should, but it doesn't.
And why is Laverne acting all jealous when she just slept with a whole Navy ship full of men just a week ago?! I bet if Mike and his gray chest got wind of that he's dump her in a second!
Back to the awful fashion show where Laverne trots out with a giant Liberty Bell on her head representing Monique's city of Philadelphia. She's no Lucy with the giant headpiece here and I bet Lucile Ball watched this episode and shook her head in pity at the sad attempt to copy greatness.
Laverne and Gray Chest make up in the end and i'd be shocked if he ever appears again for the rest of the series. The continuity with Laverne's boyfriends on this show was terrible. She was probably back down at the docks by the weekend waiting for the fleet to come in!! Another 0 star train wreck episode.... Actually it deserves 1 star for Joanna Kerns appearance.
