When a lawyer is asking questions of a witness in a trial they are supposed to keep the details in their questions to a minimum because the details need to come from the witness so that it doesn't appear that the witness is being coached and told what to say. The proper way to phrase that question would be "when you found the body what items, if any, did you find in the vicinity?"
