Ironically, the guy accused of murder wanted a change of venue, especially since the judge in the case, Loretta Young, was a female.

The guy was accused of murdering his partner. Though the body was never found, evidence proves his guilt and the guy is convicted by the jury of murder.

Loretta portrays an efficient, capable judge who is troubled by the verdict and orders a new trial for the defendant. She seemed to feel that the jury was affected emotionally by the case and therefore she took the action she did.

Interesting plot, but we needed to know the eventual outcome of the case.
