Lovely to look at but that's it

Warning: Spoilers
(This was featured on a DVD called "Classic Television" that had single-episode examples of numerous 50's TV shows.) I have always known about this show and have a vague memory of it. Ernie Kovacs loved to parody Loretta Young's famous entrance, twirling around in glamorous gowns to introduce the show. If this episode is typical, it's easy to see why we don't' see much of the show any more. It's a rather insipid effort, about Loretta's high-class character falling in love with a baggy pants comedian played by Robert Strauss. He's really a great guy but her family and friends don't understand what she sees in him, (think Shirley Jones and Marty Ingalls), and she finally has to decide whether to keep him and get along with the people around her, (including some Hollywood people who are trying to get her started in pictures). He makes the choice for her by joining the Army and going to Korea. No, he doesn't die there but comes back and they are mawkishly reunited. I was glad to have seen an example of The Loretta Young Show, (as it came to be called), but I have no need of seeing another.
