What is it with Allan Jones and Wacky Ships?
WalterKafka3 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Hey, we got another Christmas episode. 'I was promised a trained parrot.' Gopher has to look after Vicki's Christmas present - a parrot. Gopher goes down to Mexico (the ABC backlot) to trade his bothersome bird. A precocious urchin (Punky Brewster's half-brother) pretends to be Faceman's son. Faceman has to handle this kid and score with his chick at the same time. Maybe the crew will get the wrong but I'm sure it will work out. It's child's play. Jack Jones is here to sing. To be fair, the man has a voice of velvet butter. Listen to it, don't eat it. He hasn't talked to his father in ten years. Will they reunite? Will Jack sing The Love Boat theme on the Love Boat? The Christmas episode in season one was all-time. This doesn't match it. I'm holding on to silly Gopher though because I know it won't last. Allan Jones was in A Night at the Opera. If he put up with the Marx Brothers, he can handle the wild child of 1980. See you in 1981. On Kafka's Love Boat Scale, this episode gets 2 1/2 * out of a possible 4 *.
