Very Touching
Hitchcoc24 February 2017
Aside from the obvious, an extremely moving portrayal of a guy who has to accept his ex- wife is with someone else, there are some really choice moments in this episode. Lou has decided not to go to the wedding, but his daughter comes in and tells him how important it would be. So he relents and asks Mary to go with him. She hesitates and says to him that she doesn't think he can take it. He tells this brutal story of some monstrous guy in the Marines named "Jerkface" who challenges him to a boxing match. He demolishes Lou. Lou tells every gory detail. But he kept getting up every time Jerkface said, "Can't take it, Grant?" Mary is nauseated. The other scene happens at the bar after the wedding. The gang is there and it is really cute. Nice episode.

Emotional

Well-done emotional episode. Lou's ex-wife Edie is getting married and invites Lou (and Mary) to the wedding. However Lou hasn't moved on.

The wedding scene is brilliantly acted. The final scene in the bar is fantastic too. Both pivot on the relationships that have developed between the regular characters.

Van Heflin's niece Nora appears as Lou's daughter. Pat Campbell makes the last of three appearances as the barman at a nearby bar.
