The car show ended this week...

Extra funny and memorable episode.

The newsroom regulars are all well-used when they work on a story about singles bars.

The final act set-piece is one the the show's funniest ever scenes.

Among the guest actors are three returnees: Richard Schaal and Arlene Golonka as bar patrons and Randy Kirby as a crew member. The funniest is Penny Marshall (who would return in later episodes) as a languid bar patron.

Somehow It Doesn't Click

I suppose this could have been really funny. It's just that this series set such a high bar. During a meeting where Lou would like to see some more remote projects, Murray suggest that they do a feature on a singles bar that he walk by on his way to the office. Lou goes along with it an Mary is embedded in the bar for a week (Murray's wife won't let him do the story). The interactions among the patrons are amusing enough, but we've seen these desperate people before (remember the divorced people club). Richard Schaal is back as a different character. There are also Penny Marshall and Arlene Golonka. The issue becomes, when the cameras are in the bar, who wants to be seen there. Even the byplay afterward is sort of disappointing.

A very '70s episode

This could have been a better episode if they had bothered to cast the part of Dino with a different actor. By using Richard Schaal AGAIN, who has previously played Howard Arnell and his brother Paul, it fell short. Couldn't they have found another actor? Plus every character this guy has played has been super annoying.
