Don't forget your pill
Rrrobert2 September 2019
Mary tries to find a friend for her father who is a bit of a stickler, but he doesn't hit it off with Lou (who is in fine form this episode). Mary then realises that SHE needs to befriend him first. Their scenes are well acted and touching.

In the subplot Ted dresses as a bum to use the free clinic for his annual checkup.

Though Mary's parents can be annoying this episode is well done and pacey with a good story and plenty of funny moments.

Worried About Dad
Hitchcoc8 February 2017
This is kind of a touching episode with Mary trying to find a friend for her father, who doesn't seem to be reacting to retirement very well. Trying to get him and Lou together does not work out so well. They are polar opposites. Her father is really a kind of cold fish and doesn't like to talk very much. He was a surgeon and has a rather harsh view of petty things. Mary's solution to this is to have a nice dinner with only her father, so they can reconnect. Apparently, because of his profession, he missed a lot of little things as she was growing up. On another front, there is a great scene where Ted shows up for work looking like a bum. He isn't shaved and he is wearing dirty clothes. Apparently, his insurance won't cover his yearly check-up, so he went to a free clinic for poor people. When Lou sees him, Lou's response is hilarious.
