Actress Jane Connell, who makes a guest appearance in this episode, appeared with series star Bea Arthur in the movie Mame (1974). In that film, they were both re-creating the roles they had played on stage in the original Broadway production in 1966.
In this episode, Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan, (Maude and Vivian) made an appearance on the game show "Beat the Devil" and nearly secured a big win. Later, on an episode of Golden Girls, Arthur and McClanahan, along with co-stars Betty White and Estelle Getty, competed on "Grab That Dough," where they once again came close to a jackpot but ended up with nothing. Additionally, Conrad Janis, who portrayed the smarmy game show host, previously appeared on Golden Girls Season 3, Episode 2, "One for the Money," as the bandleader.
Conrad Janis (Lyle Bellamy) and Billy Sands (Mario) would appear a year later on the other All In The Family spin-off The Jeffersons in the same episode, "Jefferson Airplane."
The jewelry prize on the game show is provided by a company called "Maury Amsterdam" (comedian and actor of The Dick Van Dyke Show fame).
Johnny Olsen, known as the announcer for "The Price is Right" from 1972 to 1985, also served as the announcer for the fictitious game show "Beat the Devil," in this episode.
