Sgt. Enright is scheduled to receive a high honor from the San Francisco Police Department, but it turns into a nightmare when his ex-wife showed up. They had divorced because of her psychotic jealousy, and it's grown worse over the time apart. The next day, at their niece's wedding reception, the ex-wife asks Enright to speak with her in the mext room, alone. A shot rings out. Enright pulls out his service revolver and looks around, pulling open the door to the adjacent hallway. More officers break in and grab Enright. The ex-wife is slumped on the floor with blood all over her blouse. An investigation of Enright's weapon reveals that a bullet was fired from it. The ex-wife is DOA at the hospital, with the man who accompanied her (a magician) having disappeared. An autopsy finds that the bullet that killed her was fired from Enright's gun. It seems like an airtight case against Enright, but Mac refuses to believe it and looks into the possibility that Enright was the victim of a clever frame-up.
