"Owl-Stretching Time" was once considered a title for the entire show.
The often seen 16-ton weight gag made its first appearance in the 'Self-Defense' sketch. The gigantic cartoon-like weight smashing down on an unsuspecting victim was often used later throughout the series to end many of the sketches.
A poster on the wall of the book shop was for The Naked Ape. This followed a western sequence. In the film version of the book the male lead would eventually be played by Johnny Crawford, who played Mark McCain in the western series, The Rifleman (1958).
In "Self-Defense Against Fresh Fruit," Mr. Harrison (Graham Chapman) was the first student to be killed. In reality, Chapman was the first Monty Python member to die.
