The title is based on an editorial in the September 21, 1897 edition of the "New York Sun" which included the famous reply "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus". Francis Church wrote in reply to a little girl's question on the existence of Santa Claus, and this response has been a part of holiday lore ever since.
