The song "Hey There Good Times" was written for the 1977 musical "I love My Wife", in which it was performed by a 'Greek chorus' consisting of four musicians. One of them starts the song solo, playing bass, before being joined by a banjo player, a drummer and a pianist. While the Muppet Show version does not feature this musical progression, Mean Mama is seen playing bass, one of the Mutations the banjo, Gorgon heap is on drums and Doglion plays piano. Additionally, Sweetumps plays trombone and Timmy Monster the tambourine.
