A Mid-Semester's Night Dream (#5.4)

Warning: Spoilers
Daphne is bed ridden and Charlie keeps her company. Claudia breaks up with Jamie. Will comes over and doesn't seem to be himself. The thing between Julia and Ned gets more complicated.

I liked how they continue with the Daphne story. Her being annoyed that everything is about the baby is very understandable. And I like how Charlie took it and supported her. It seems to be getting between them.

Julia and Ned story while made interesting makes no sense. I liked that scene at the party where they almost got caught. But I don't get why they are into each other just because of the kiss. It would make more sense for Julia to like Josh.

Oh no poor Will. That girl got pregnant from a one night stand. And sure she will end up being the kind who will not get an abortion and choose to ruin her and his lives instead. But the better choice won't make for good TV.

Without Sense

Warning: Spoilers
There were many parts that had no sense, many contradictions. It wasn't an enjoyable episode. First, is Claudia's story. She is the best character of the series but in this case her story was meaningless. Jamie visits her in the boarding school but she acts weird and elusive. She doesn't want to spend time with him and that's weird considering that they were together all summer. In a Halloween party, he feels upset about this and believes she is cheating on him, but she says that she likes the school and her new friends so she doesn't miss him and also doesn't miss home. So they break up. This has no sense because the truth is that Claudia misses home, she will be eager to return since next episode. Also, Jamie didn't deserve this, he was worth it, he cared about her. Then, it's Julia's part. After the kiss with Ned, she stops it because of Maggie, despite Ned's protests. He says he is crazy for her, which is ridiculous considering that Maggie has been his girlfriend for years. Finally, after another meaningless Halloween party, where Julia pushed unfairly Josh away, Maggie convinces her to take a chance with a guy instead of avoiding it (Maggie knows about Griffin's marriage with Julia). The problem is that Maggie inadvertently pushed Julia to Ned. Too bad.

As for Charlie, well, turns out that baby Diana has to develop her lungs and keep growing, so Daphne has to spend time in bed. He and Kirsten arrive with breakfast, and she says she toasted Owen's pumpkin seeds for her. She also thinks they should have a baby shower in the house, something that initially doesn't mind to Daphne, who tells them to do it themselves. Later, he thinks about 10 guests and Daphne says she doesn't want to be ignored, that he still can ask her about the baby shower. In the night, he measures her blood pressure just like the doctor ordered. Next day, Kirsten takes pictures of him with baby stuff, and he says that Daphne is starting to show her feelings towards the baby, she is melting down. Then, he takes care of her as the doctor ordered, watching the baby and staying in bed all day with her, starting to ignore Owen, who was with Griffin off screen today. They reconnect (and kiss) after months while watching the pictures and some of him as a child. After the last three episodes, where they mostly had discussions and fights, it was kind of weird seeing them close again. Also, I can't forget the outstanding first six episodes of season 3, and as a Charlie-Kirsten fan, I can't enjoy Charlie's story today. He was kind and good but I can't feel it, Daphne already recognized that they are not right for each other, so this was out of nothing, it has no sense after the last three episodes. The only good thing for me was (SPOILER AHEAD) that gives the hint Kirsten will have a baby shower in the future. There's no season 7, but it would have been really nice to see a baby shower for Kirsten, shared with Charlie, Meg, Ellie, Gene, Claudia, Julia, Bailey, Owen, Diana and Daphne.

To finish, Will return to SF. He took a break from college and acts weird with Bailey and Sarah. He stays in the loft with them a few days, briefly works as bartender in Salinger's and is being called and chased by a girl named Hanna. Sarah notices that he is disturbed (she says that she can "read his mind" because they shared a brief relationship, they kissed in the past) and tries to talk to Bailey about it but he wants to give Will space. At the end, Hanna appears in the loft in the middle of the night, and tells that she is pregnant with Will's baby (after a one night stand). This was out of nowhere and considering what will happen next episode, here they staged a classic situation for a controversial and moral decision. Still, was necessary to convert Will into a jerk? This season is starting to fall down, I deeply miss season 1 and some great moments of seasons 2, early season 3 and even dark-sad moments of season 4.
