Helping Thy Neighbor
Martin is serving on a committee to help stop school drop outs. When he asks Patty to serve as a student representative, she says she is dropping out the next week. In fact, it's a ploy to shock Richard out of actually wanting to drop out. Instead, Richard is thrilled. The family helps Patty try and convince Richard otherwise by inviting him over and discussing failures of drop outs they know. Determined in his plan, Patty breaks up with him. Martin reads in the newspaper that Richard's father Johnathon Harrison's (David Doyle, "Charlie's Angels", "Rugrats") construction company lost a $2,000,000 turnpike contract. The family realize Richard must be going to work to support his family. They decide to help by gathering jobs for the construction company. In truth, Mr. Harrison is still doing extremely well and feels it is Martin who is broke and wanting a favor to fix the small repairs. When he comes over to Martin's the two men give each other advice that the other thinks is a front.
