Warning: Spoilers
This case was judicially poorly approached from the start.

As Petrocelli reveals only at the end, it was always analyzed on the basis that the only deceased was the accused's father, without anyone realizing that another man died at his side.

Precisely, the murderer, an airport employee, wanted to kill the other crew member, because he had had violent sex with his own wife the night before, and that is why he installed the bomb on the plane without knowing that the accused's father would also travel. - It is strange that Fox, a very competent prosecutor, has not directed any line of investigation towards that side.

It is true that Fox (Harold Gould) had to deal with a more than histrionic sheriff (Cameron Mitchell), who surely saw more morbidity in a murder of a daughter to a father. - But it was a mistake.

The cockpit simulation with which Petrocelli shows the sheriff how wrong his version is is priceless, and Fox's gesture says it all.

Like an old custom, the guilty party ends up admitting his guilt on the stand.
