Failed alibi

Warning: Spoilers
Perhaps this is the best episode of the series. The beautiful Anne Acher, in her role as Cheryl Brewets, appears before Petrocelli confessing to having killed a man who, she said, appeared suddenly after years of separation, claiming to be her first husband and blackmailing her by telling her current husband. In great actor William Windom as Alan Brewster. Cheryl prepared a brilliant alibi: shooting an empty sack in the deceased's (Acher) apartment, so that everyone could see her fleeing, when in reality, she had killed the subject in his house half an hour before. But Petrocelli's cunning, when he was almost out of his mind, allowed him to realize that there was only one key at stake, and that to have it Cheryl, she must have first killed Acher, since otherwise she would not have been able to enter the apartment. Of this to prepare his alibi.

The solution was not very celebrated by Alan, since he loved his wife and what happened meant great pain to him, despite regaining his freedom.
