Ash and the gang approach Violet City, and join in on a local Pokemon academy's trip to the Sprout Tower...
The character of Zackie is one of the more annoying characters Ash has to deal with in his adventures: a petulant, bratty kid. If that wasn't enough, he tries to steal Pikachu from Ash. This isn't fun or cute like when Team Rocket does it. No, Zackie thinks that Pikachu should *of course* want to be with him, a schoolkid, rather than his actual trainer who has earned his trust. Eventually Zackie catches a Bellsprout and learns to work with his new Pokemon. Zackie is really freaking annoying, and he makes watching this episode a chore.
The rest of the episode is alright. The battle at Sprout Tower is cool, as is the matching lore to the Gold/Silver games. Bellsprout has a fun personality and Zackie doesn't deserve a Pokemon that cool. Not much else happens, which is mostly why I'm so focused on the sucky character-of-the-day in this episode.
