- Rowdy Yates: It's rotgut. As far as I'm concerned, you can drown yourself in it, but not on my time, or my drive. Now get off this wagon!
- Rowdy Yates: We could be waiting a week for that old coot. Chances are he's wallowing in a ditch somewhere.
- Sam Clayton: It was your notion to talk to him.
- Rowdy Yates: Yeah, well, I got another notion that'll be a little quicker.
- Rowdy Yates: You don't know a lot of things, Aaron. You don't know this territory. You don't know this river. You lied to me just like your Pa did.
- Aaron Bolt: That ain't so.
- Rowdy Yates: It ain't, huh? I acted like a greenhorn with the two of you, took his word for everything, and made the same mistake with you.
- Aaron Bolt: Maybe I bragged on what I don't know but nobody knows this country like my Pa.
- Rowdy Yates: Nobody knows the saloons in this territory like your Pa, you mean.
- Aaron Bolt: Why Pa? 'Cos you're such a big man? Well, everybody knows you got cattle up and down the territory, herds and herds, more than a man can count. Why, you get more respect than the Governor, more than the President. Everybody loves you, Pa. Is that what you want me to say? Or do you want me to tell the truth?
- Rowdy Yates: [Rowdy's last chance to say: Head 'em out! Move 'em out!] All right, move 'em out! Keep 'em rolling! Keep 'em moving across!
- Jonas Bolt: Sometimes I'm sorry I promised your mother I'd look out for yer.
- Aaron Bolt: You didn't promise her nothin.' The night she died you was out in an Indian village with fur trappers getting stinkin' drunk.
- Jonas Bolt: You can thank your lucky stars, I'm in no condition to whip yer.
- Wishbone: Mr, Bolt? Why, that flea bitten, scroungy good for nothing. He'd sell the hide off a cootie if he thought he could get a drink from it.
