Your word ain't good enough
bkoganbing4 November 2017
Clint Eastwood's trail drive is stalled for a bit when he gets a visit from an army detachment led by Bert Brinckerhoff wanting to requisition some cattle for feed. He's one arrogant shavetail and demands 100 head of cattle on his word they'll be paid. Not good enough for Clint and when Brinckerhoff resorts to gunplay he gets wounded.

Comes the commanding officer Rory Calhoun who gets his cattle with a bit more diplomacy and a paper redeemable in gold at the nearest post. But when Eastwood tries to redeem it at a fort commanded by Dick Foran he finds it's worthless.

Not a man to be hoodwinked Clint finds the men and it's easy to figure out they're not real army. But Calhoun actually resents being just called a mere rustler. In truth he does have some grandiose ambitions.

A nice guest star turn by Rory Calhoun who could play both sides of the law and did in so many westerns. Nicely staged confrontation with Calhoun and his men and the drovers as well.
