This episode was made in the bad old days...when doctors often DIDN'T tell dying people that they were dying. How they thought this was a good for the patient, I have no idea. Anyway, the story begins with Margaret (Joan Crawford) being told by her husband's doctor that he only has a year to live. So, she quits her job to devote her life to him. Sadly, later she learns that during this time, he's actually cheating on her! What's next?
I think Crawford is very good here, though the writing is poor...very poor. The twist ending was odd to say the least...but she and the rest of the cast did their best with what they were given.
By the way, someone or group of people is rating bombing this obscure TV episode. While it's difficult to believe that 169 people would rate it, it's impossible to believe that 132 of them scored it a 1! I checked a few other TV appearances for Crawford during the 1950s and found the same pattern...a super-low overall rating and about 80-90% of the ratings are 1...all for generally decent TV episodes. Of all of these, "Because I Love Him" has a score that isn't far off...at 3.1.
