- A woman in a hideous Japanese mask refuses to remove it or give her name, as she riles up a Texas town after arriving to stage a memorial for a long-dead girl. Buz is fascinated by the scorned young woman but she refuses his help.
- During a short layover in Kilkenny, Texas, while the Corvette is being serviced, Tod but especially Buz are as intrigued as any townsperson by a young woman just arrived into town on a highway coach, she wearing a mask which she does not remove. While townsfolk may have somewhat of a mob mentality, Tod and Buz want to ensure that she is safe regardless of her reason for being in town. They providing that safety becomes more paramount when she does some provocative actions. They will all learn that she is calling herself Miriam Moore. Longtime residents of the town know that she cannot be the Miriam Moore who once lived there as she died ten years ago at age fifteen, despite this Miriam seemingly knowing all those residents. Miriam's safety could be further compromised when she places an advertisement for a memorial service for herself. Although Miriam initially declines Buz's help, Tod and Buz, in shadowing her, may eventually learn her story and what she is trying to achieve both in coming back to Kilkenny and in coming back from "the dead".—Huggo
