One Of The Best Of This Season

Warning: Spoilers
Many hilarious moments and great sketches make this one of the funniest of the season.

The first scene is a funny wine commercial with Prini stomping some grapes.

Half Wits is a hysterically funny game show with host Alex Trebel. Alex has to deal with 4 idiots who cannot answer any simple questions. Martin Short is one of the funniest as a middle aged guy who still is having trouble in high school. Trebel gives them all a chance to win by picking a number between 1 and 10, but 2 of them answer 12!

Then we get a double spoof of Jerry Lewis and Ingmar Bergmann in Scenes From An Idiot's Marriage. Jerry is his usual klutzy self while stuck in the morose world of Bergmann film. Count Floyd introduces the 3D House Of Representatives with Tip O'Neil and 3D effects of signing a bill.

A great parody of the 1976 version of A Star Is Born is next. Joe Flaherty plays the Kris Kristofferson role of the drunken John Norman Mane. Musical guest Crystal Gayle plays Esther Blodgett. There are funny scenes of Andrea Martin as Big Mama, Esther's musical partner and mentor. Mane goes on a TV appearance and drunkenly sings about "critters" like cows and pigs. Gayle then goes on and sings her country hit Our Love Is On The Faultline. One of the funniest moments is at the Grammy awards scene where Eugene Levy plays Milton Berle who keeps trying to interrupt with ad libs. This appears to be some revenge on Berle who interrupted Flaherty's speech on an actual Emmy awards show where SCTV won a writing award. Mane slugs Berle in this sketch. Mane later is killed by a hot wax in a car wash.

One of the best Film Farm Reports has Big Jim and Billy Sol welcoming Dustin Hoffman (Short). Hoffman shows up dressed in his role in Tootsie. It was widely known at this time that he was a difficult actor to work with. He is a real pain the neck here but finally blows up. There is a sketch about a scrap metal tycoon named Brad Allen (Short). He gets involved with a philharmonic orchestra but only talks business and is prone to coughing fits.

The Days Of The Week returns with a funny episode. Wainwright is nervous about being arrested while Rocco sits in jail thinking of squealing on Wainwright. Mojo talks to Mrs McKay on the phone who is hiding out in New York. Mojo shows romantic interest in Billy. May attempts a suicide but saved by an new character Janet Halsey (played by non regular Mary Charlotte Wilcox.

Brock Linehan interviews Steve Roman. Brock's asks his usual long winded questions but Roman doesn't hear him.

The last sketch is a Melonville Calendar with Wilcox as Idella Voudry a ladies room attendant of the Ladies Auxiliary Lounge interviewed by Yolanda Divillbis.
