- Carrie finds being an 'irreplacable' freelance writer is not an excuse to dodge jury duty. After her break-up with Harry, Charlotte keeps going to synagogue alone, where Jewish ladies swarm to match her to their eligible sons, but she dishes neither till Harry reappears. Berger is fed-up with disloyal Carrie and the girls' attitude men are always wrong, so he decides to take a break from her in the Hamptons. Miranda is made to understand at the law firm her maternal distraction won't be pardoned; at home Brady seems to feel neglected too. Samantha launches Smith's image as a practically naked perfume poster model 'Abolute Hunk' but he has no confidence even though gays already drool over him.—KGF Vissers
- Carrie gets pulled into jury duty. She plans to decline by saying that she is a freelance writer and there is no one to cover for her. Her plea is dismissed, and she is asked to serve. Every innocent comment from her is taken as a potential insult by Berger (what are you going to do today? for e.g.). Berger thinks that Carrie thinks of him as a useless, unemployed bum.
Slowly they start fighting about all the little things, like Carrie telling a waiter she is allergic to Parsley, when she is not. Berger says that Carrie is not allergic to parsley and Carrie says that she doesn't like parsley, and unless she makes it into a medical condition, somehow the parsley makes it onto her plate and then she feels bad about sending it back. Berger tells Carrie that he needs a break from their relationship. He asks for a week.
Miranda encourages Carrie to use the time to think about what she wants. Carrie speaks to Big, who makes her realize that she would probably have to fight for what she wants with Berger. Carrie hires a car, all prepared to go to the Hamptons to meet Berger and sort out their issues. But she drives 40 feet and returns the car.
Berger comes back and says he loves her and wants to make this work. But the next morning he breaks up with Carrie with a post it note.
Brady cries whenever Miranda goes to work. She is late to work and struggles with her caseload. She is pulled in by one of the senior partners and HR for a meeting. She is told that she has been frequently late to work and has been slipping in her casework with important clients. Miranda starts putting more time at work, and she starts to miss seeing Brady awake as he is asleep by the time she gets back home. Now Brady cries every time Magda leaves the house. So, Workaholic Miranda has to cut her hours at work (to 55 hours a week) in order to spend more time with Brady.
Women from the synagogue compete to set Charlotte up with their single sons. She dates some of them, but every one of them is weird and Charlotte has to bail each time. Charlotte runs into Harry at a singles night, which she attends to meet another one of her "blind dates", and they realize they are meant to be together. Harry proposes to Charlotte, and she says yes.
PR Manager Samantha changes Jerry's name to Smith and gets him great exposure on a revealing billboard in Times Square. Jerry is upset as his AA buddies think he is sell-out posing for liquor ad. His acting buddies are upset as Jerry bowed to PR. And his family is upset as they have to hide his dick revealing posters from his grandparents. Jerry isn't happy when his posters are vandalized all over NYC. Samantha tells Jerry to have faith and that everything will soon work out. She says the PR first attracts the gays, then the girls and then the industry follows. Soon, Jerry starts getting movie offers and his career takes off.
