- Carrie finally sees Berger's apartment, and likes it but hears it's the work of his ex Lauren, just as his sleeping sounds machine. Big suddenly phones her from California. Charlotte aces her Judaism classes, but is shocked that she must abandon all Christian traditions, even Christmas trinkets. Miranda's ex, Steve, has a new girlfriend, Debbie, so she accuses him of neglecting his paternal duties, perhaps angry after she declared her love and he rejected her. Samantha has sex with the Raw waiter at a crazy would-be designers handbag party, which gets him fired. When she offers to compensate him financially, he's insulted. While she tries to make it up to him, he tells her he's an actor named Jerry.—KGF Vissers
- Carrie visits Berger's apartment and it is immaculate. Berger reveals most of things she liked were picked by or gifted by his ex-girlfriend Lauren who is a decorator. The color of the paint on the walls, a sound machine as Jack is a troubled sleeper (the machine-made sounds of frogs, birds and cicadas like in a tropical forest), and so on. Meanwhile one night, Big calls Carrie and has phone sex with her. Carrie likes to think that Big is not a threat to Berger in their relationship, just as Lauren is not a threat to her.
After Berger flips out and flips off his ex-girlfriend's answer-phone message (while Carrie was in his apartment, Laurie called), Carrie tries to not think about her influence on his life. She was not expecting such an angry reaction from Berger to Lauren's phone message. Carrie wants to know what happened to cause such a reaction from Berger. Berger admits that Lauren keeps calling him for a closure lunch. But Berger is angry as Lauren cheated on him, and he was hurt badly. Berger was dead, till Carrie came along. Carrie learns the value of closure and calls Big to close her relationship with him and tells him no more phone sex. She tells Big that she is dating Jack Berger now. Carrie gifts Jack a new sound machine, one which has many other sounds other than the forest theme.
Steve is late to pick Brady by 20 mins as Debbie (Eleni Fuaixis), the girl Steve is seeing, had car trouble. The next day. Miranda finds condoms in Brady's diaper bag and gets upset with Steve. Miranda yells at Steve for not focusing on Brady, as Brady falls from the couch where Miranda had put him.
Charlotte throws herself into studies and classes from Rabbi Minsch (Pierre Epstein) for her conversion to Harry's Hebrew religion. She is on an accelerated schedule with the classes as there is a lot to cover with the History, the Traditions and the philosophy. The conversion ceremony involves a ritual bath, where the person is immersed in water and is reborn as a Hebrew. Newly converted Charlotte mourns the loss of Christmas. The Rabbi is adamant that Charlotte cannot have a tree, no caroling, no reindeer and so on. But Harry is very supportive and wants Charlotte to keep her Christmas.
Samantha runs into Jerry at a product launch party of a recently divorced friend, who had made handbags out of all the discarded pieces of their relationship. Samantha was invited as a guest, and she brought the girls along. An on-the-job quickie with Samantha gets Jerry fired from a catering gig, where he was waitress. Victoria (Jennifer Coolidge) was throwing the party after a bad breakup, and she loses her cool at seeing Jerry having sex with Samantha and goes into an emotional meltdown. She throws everybody out of her apartment.
Samantha pays Jerry $300 for his loss, but Jerry is insulted when Samantha says that $300 is what the A-Lister pay for a waiter at one of their parties. Carrie later tells Samantha that $300 given in a bedroom means prostitution. Samantha apologizes to Jerry by posing as a waiter at their next sex night. Jerry says that he wants to know Samantha as a person.
