Adventures in the high seas which is courtesy of stock footage. The rest of it is tightly shot on stage.
This is another ITC production with the nautical adventures of the chivalrous Francis Drake.
A bit too much chivalrous here. They have Spanish prisoners that the crew have saved from drowning.
Drake has invited the Countess and her family to his own boat but she has no time for English hospitality. She would rather die and take the ship down with her.
The Countess conspires to bring someone on board to help set up an explosion. Drake might be too late to discover the plot but will the Countess be prepared to see her young cousins die?
It is a simple adventure and a bit preposterous. It is silly that Drake does not realise his prisoners might be up to something. When he does he should had got his crew searching for the fuse, there were only a few places the Countess was at.
A young Michael Crawford plays a cabin boy. Warren Mitchell plays a Spanish craftsman invited to come on board.
