Quotes
-
Dr. Donald Westphall : Hi, Pop, how you doin?
Dr. Daniel Auschlander : Good. How was your day up on the building?
Dr. Donald Westphall : Well, we finally topped off the 22nd story. And I'm beat. How's he been? Give you any trouble?
Dr. Daniel Auschlander : He's been sitting there ever since you left this morning. Just like he does every day in a world of his own.
Dr. Donald Westphall : [after Tommy shakes the snow globe too hard] Careful with that, son. Remember I told you that? I don't understand this autism thing, Pop. But he is my son. I talk to him, I don't even know if he can hear me. 'Cause he sits there all day long in his own world, staring at that toy. What's he thinkin about?
[Tommy continues to shake the snow globe, Westphall takes the snowglobe]
Dr. Donald Westphall : All right, come on, son. Let's go wash our hands, all right?
[after getting Tommy on his feet]
Dr. Donald Westphall : It's all right, I've got it, I've got it.
[Puts the snow globe on top of the TV]
-
Dr. Donald Westphall : Who'd a thought we'd be working together again.
Dr. Mark Craig : Yeah, like a dream come true. Well, good-bye, Donald.
[Extends his hand]
Dr. Donald Westphall : What?
Dr. Mark Craig : Ellen and I are moving to Cleveland.
Dr. Donald Westphall : Cleveland?
Dr. Mark Craig : If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
-
Dr. Donald Westphall : It's nice to be home.
[St Eligius staff applause]
Dr. Donald Westphall : Well, we're all here. I think we should thank John Gideon for the time he put in this year.
[Applause from staff]
Dr. Donald Westphall : And we have to say good-bye... to Daniel Auschlander, who've I've known for 43 years. With Daniel's death, we've lost some of the spirit in this place... some of the compassion, but I think most importantly we've lost his experience, but ah, ends mean beginnings, don't they? There was a time when Daniel didn't exist, and that time has come again. And I think we should be glad... that we lived in the time he did.
