- The Asgard and three Goa'uld System Lords meet at Stargate Command to negotiate a treaty modification, but subterfuge and treachery threaten not only the success of the negotiations, but Earth itself.
- Just when Jack was to speech, in the Secretary of Defense's presence, for Sam's promotion to major, he is suddenly beamed up directly into the space-ship in undetectable earth-orbit of Asgard Thor, who warns him the Goa'uld system-lords have decided after Hathor's defeat to launch an attack on earth hundredfold Apophis's and offers Asgard help to propose alternatively Earth's inclusion in the Protected Planets Treaty, then returns Jack. Thor instructs Jack alone to represent the entire planet, on star-base, against a System-lords delegation of three: the Ancient first supreme Greek god Cronos, who once toppled Sokar, Yu the Great or Yu-huang Shang Ti, the first Chinese dragon Emperor, and Nirrti, the Hindu goddess of darkness. The system-lords are rude and difficult. Teal'c hates Cronus above all because his father, once his prime, was killed as punishment for failure and Sam believes he ordered Jolinar's execution. Thor explains the Asgard really bluff against the feudally divided Goa'uld as they must reserve their main forces for a far worse enemy in their own galaxy. The Goa'uld demand recognition of their race's superiority, the right to limit earth's technological development to any level they consider threatening and both earth's start-gates, the Secretary is inclined to advice the president to accept. Then Teal'c is found badly wounded, Cronus worse, with his symbiont dying. Yu and Nirrti want to take Cronus away immediately as he needs a sarcophagus but are retained at gunpoint. Teal'c wakes up and says they were attacked by an invisible third party, Sam proves a theory of deceit by Nirrti, who when exposed is attacked for it by Yu, who proves grateful as well as Cronus...—KGF Vissers
- The Asgard Thor arrives on Earth and informs Col. O'Neil that they are under threat of attack from the Goa'uld. Thor offers to mediate a lasting peace and three Goa'uld system lords - Cronus, Niirti and Yu-huang Shang Ti - arrive for the negotiations. Teal'c wants nothing to do with them and part of the agreement is that O'Neill is the sole Earth representative at the negotiating table. The terms are pretty onerous as far as O'Neill is concerned, particularly having to give up both Stargates. The negotiations end abruptly when Cronus is attacked and Teal'c is found unconscious beside him. It will all lead to war if they cannot identify the real attacker.—garykmcd
- Sam is promoted to major and during Jack's speech, a beam transports him to a spacecraft where he meets Thor. He explains to Jack that the earthlings have called the attention of the Goa'uld System Lords after defeating Hathor and now they intent to attack Earth. However Asgard had proposed to include Earth in the Protected Planets Treaty and three Goa'uld System Lords will come to Earth to negotiate. In principle, they may accept the deal provide the two Stargates are returned to them. Thor also advises that Jack must be the negotiator of the planet. When the trio arrives, they prove to be intolerable beings and almost impossible to deal with. Teal'c and Cronos have a friction and out of the blue, they are found unconscious. When Teal'c awakes, he tells that he has not fought with the lord. Who might have attacked them? Will Jack succeed in his negotiation?—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
