They see a woman crossing the forest, and when she is about to commit suicide by jumping off a cliff, Daniel saves her. They are arrested and her father, Pyrus, who is responsible for the planet, sentences the SG-1 to work in the Naquadah mines. They try to escape, but Daniel is wounded, and they have to return to work as slaves. Daniel awakes in a Sarcophagus and, because Princess Shyla has a crush on him, she forces Daniel to go inside the Sarcophagus several times. When Daniel meets the SG-1, they feel that he has changed. When Daniel agrees to marry Shyla, the SG-1 is allowed to return to Earth, and Dr. Janet Fraiser discovers that repetitive use of the Sarcophagus creates an altered state of mind and addiction. - Exploring a beautiful forested planet, Daniel stops princess Shyla, sole heir to Pyrus the Godslayer, from jumping to her death. Pyrus rules the planet since he overthrew and took the place of the Goa'uld overlord, but he keeps other Goa'uld from finding out by keeping the people virtually enslaved and sending back Naqahdah from the mines, which is where SG-1 is also sent. Shyla, however, falls in love with Daniel, whom she wants as the spouse her father demands, and uses the healing and addictive properties of the Sarcophagus to keep him with her, which also badly affects his character. Still, Daniel agrees to liberate SG-1 and return, but on base has extreme, even murderous "cold turkey" complications. Daniel is eventually rehabilitated and let back into SG-1. They revisit the planet, where Shyla had succeeded the late Pyrus, and she promises Daniel to emancipate her people and destroy the sarcophagus, which SG-1 was supposed to study.—KGF Vissers
