- Its Red and Kitty's 25th anniversary in 2 days. Kitty is throwing a surprise party for Red and asks the basement gang to keep it a secret. Red hates surprises ever since Pearl Harbor.
Sam is irritating Hyde by always parading half naked in front of his friends. He wants her to charge them.
Kelso shocks the boys by saying the reason for his unhappiness is that he's no longer together with 'his only true love' Jackie and intends to propose to her. Hyde disagrees as he feels that Jackie was always bossing Kelso around and putting him down. Fez duly relays the information to the girls. Jackie feels 'she has nothing else good in her life', never mind Donna's objections that Kelso will never grow up. Jackie says that she and Kelso have their problems, but their getting married will fix everything. Fez adds that if marriage doesn't work, they can always have a kid together.
Donna stays up at 4 am waiting for Eric's scheduled call, but he never calls. Donna is angrier when she finds that he did call Kitty the night before. Next morning Michael is cured of his obsession with proposing to Jackie. Kelso gets his ultimate dream job: security guard at the Playboy Mansion in Chicago. Kelso would go to the mansion after every visit to his daughter Betsy, who lives with Brooke in Chicago. But every time he gets thrown out by the guards. This time he believes that he can do the guard job and speaks to the security chief Vic (Bruce Willis), his kind of peeper. Vic has a hole in his office wall that looks right into the girl's bathroom. Vic also got a girl pregnant and doesn't wear a wedding ring, just like Kelso. Vic and Kelso get along really well, and Vic offers him a job.
Kelso is thrilled that he never blurted anything to Jackie, and he is still free to take the job, without any obstacles. Alas Fez confesses to Kelso he already told the girls about Kelso's impending proposal. Fez and Hyde feel it's Kelso's last chance with Jackie. They believe that Jackie will soon be over losing Steven and never forgive Kelso if he leaves now. Kelso concludes it's proposal time.
Meanwhile, Donna counsels Jackie that she cannot marry Kelso. They will live in a trash apartment, and Kelso would still be cheating on her, and getting fired from his job.
Red forcefully puts Kitty in the car and takes her out on their anniversary day, just before the party is about to start. Even Kitty agrees Red is romantic by booking in the sleazy motel for a repeat of their first sex (between their wedding and their reception dinner), so they are late at their own party.
Eric calls during the party, but again doesn't speak to Donna for long. Randy gives Donna company. On bent knee, hearing Jackie say 'no' makes Michael the happiest man in the world. Both Jackie and Kelso agree that marrying each other would be a total disaster. Only saying goodbye to the basement circle leaves the whole gang sad as Kelso is also moving to Chicago.
