Kenneth More, who played Bader in Reach for the Sky (1956) was unable to attend due to the onset of Parkinson's disease. His wife, Angela Douglas, represented him and delivered a personal tribute on his behalf. A second extremely poignant message was delivered from Clarence House, home of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother (Queen Consort during World War Two) to finish the programme. Such a message from a member of the British Royal Family was at that time extremely rare and left Bader visibly moved.
