- A UFO lands on the moon while the detection system was blinded by meteor activities. An alien then walks to moonbase and shoots the window of a leisure module, which eventually breaks and kill one astronaut, while Col. Paul Foster (Michael Billington) barely manages to escape.
Foster then guesses what happened and the interceptors find the landed UFO. He goes out to the moon surface in search of the alien ship. While trying to capture the UFO, Foster gets hurt and his radio breaks up; then as the UFO tries to leave it is destroyed, letting a single alien stranded on the moon. Foster is thought dead: his role as moonbase commander is given to Lt. Mark Bradley (Harry Baird) and his death is notified to his girlfriend Tina Duval (Suzan Farmer). Mark does not want the job at first, because he's afraid of the hidden racism.
The alien threatens Foster with his weapon. They walk over the moon surface. Foster takes the alien's weapons, but it has no bullets inside, so from that moment they have to walk together. Paul faints, and the alien helps him out by mending Paul's suit and passing some fresh air from his tanks. The alien and Paul communicate by means of gestures and Paul takes his map out to agree on a common course of action.
The situation somewhat bonds Foster and the alien, but when finally the rescue team comes over they kill the alien, not being able to understand what Foster was trying to tell them.
When Tina Duval realizes Foster is alive and receive no explanations from him, she leaves him.
