Having John Cassavetes as guest star on this episode due his background spoke by himself, the viewers will distrust about his character, he plays an American traitor scientist Dr. Everett Lang that works on Bamboo curtain as the writer suggests on early lines concerning over China, a blast of a bomb on freezing polar area witnessed by Seaview's crew who point out that such bomb is more powerful they than ever imagined, a proton bomb, hence on China the target has been achieved they decide get rid of their creators including Lang, who survive miraculously.
Through the American net spying on China they recover Dr. Lang, that wanna goes back and also bringing a huge proton bomb to America that was locate somewhere on the sea, the deal should be in your terms, the Seaview must be used to this bold assignment, Captain Crane was in charge to enter in touch with Dr. Lang on Chinese ground, Crane treats him with deep coolness at first meeting, the plan to repatriate the former betrayer doesn't count with Crane agreement at all.
The escape throughout a Chinese Junk where they get reach on high sea in a previously rendezvous point with Seaview, unfortunately the drafted plan fails wretchedly, pursued by small ship of China's Navy Coast Guard that sunk the rustic Junk, nevertheless the Seaview spotted the only survivors Crane and Dr. Lang (of course), the rescue of the proton bomb is high risk, whilst it was like taking candy from a child, the worst will came up when Dr. Lang holding a switch he can detonate the bomb if the process of disarmament doesn't starts straightaway.
Some inconsistences comes to surface once more, the rescue of the Dr. Lang and the bomb proves useless, due the Chinese wouldn't so stupid to keep a bomb's formula at safe, as I usually said it's Irwin Allen show where all is possible!!
