'Doctor Zhivago (1965)' had just been released in the US on December 22, 1965. The film was a commercial success and Geraldine Chaplin received a Golden Globe Award nomination in the category, "Most Promising Female Newcomer".
The first contestant made breadboxes. The question "Is it bigger than a breadbox?" was popularized by Steve Allen on this show when he initially asked it on June Havoc (1953).
Mr. Werner Guggenheim, the last contestant to appear, was a sales manager for a division of the Thorens Music Box Company, a business that existed since 1883. By 1903, they were producing Edison-type phonographs and in 1928, they sold their first electric (motor-drive) record player.
