Scooby and Shaggy: Ghosts! oh please, no ghosts. LOL.
XueHuaBingYu18 October 2019
One paragraph plot : Leland brothers ghosts are disturbing people and because of it, the girl who is in charge of Leland hotel is facing some problem. The boss is pushing her to sell the hotel, but she doesn't want to. Soon after that, the Mystery Incorporated gang is arriving in Leland hotel and learns all about it. Then they explore the graveyard where the ghosts appear and find some clues. Clue by clue, they uncover the truth about that Leland brothers' ghosts disturbance case and apprehended the guys who are responsible to the police.

Episode 4 is somewhat interesting and yet, there's a mystery left to uncover. The sound that Shaggy and Scooby heard isn't what they think it is. So, I wonder what the sound is. I feel like they left us hanging.

All in all, as usual, this episode is a nice one too. As for those ones who love to watch ghosts and spirits, I think this one is just for you.

Big Scare in the Big Easy

Warning: Spoilers
When I watched this as a wee lad I didn't get the final Leeland Lamb, Land joke and to this day, probably twelve or more years later I still don't get it. Nevermind. The episode itself was great, this series likes it's modern technology to achieve old tricks shown the original series.

Creepiness at Mardi Gras
TheLittleSongbird2 December 2021
"Big Scare in the Big Easy" was my first episode of 'What's New Scooby Doo' when first starting to watch the show and it was one of the episodes that stuck out at me as good, due to the villains, the atmosphere and the setting. New Orleans is not a setting seen a lot on Scooby Doo, or at least at this point of the franchise, and likewise with Mardi Gras as an occasion (certainly not as common as Christmas and Halloween). Interest points in themselves.

It's still a great episode and actually is even better now with more to like, not just one of the best episodes of Season 1 (which was mostly a pretty solid season with no disasters) but also among my personal favourite 'What's New Scooby Doo' episodes. The show has grown on me a good deal overtime, after being mixed on it when younger, due to episodes like "Big Scare in the Big Easy". Everything that stood out on first watch are still present and a few other things stand out now too.

Still can't fault the animation, which is great with some truly creepy visuals like at the beginning. The first appearance of the Leland brothers has always given me the creeps. The music meshes harmoniously with the action, with a contemporary groove that is never at odds with the visual style. The intro is still catchy. What really stands out here and the highlight of "Big Scare in the Big Easy" is the chase scene, which is simply brilliant. The song is get up and sing and dance worthy and the scene is filled to the brim with energy, how the waterpark setting is used is truly imagainative too.

The setting is nostalgic and suitably creepy, the waterpark is particularly well utilised thanks to the chase scene. The Leland Brothers ghosts are still very nightmarish, particularly their first appearance. The mystery is a lot of fun, eventful and is filled with atmosphere and energy, with a reasonably high suspect count. It is also remarkably true in spirit to earlier incarnations.

All the gang are strongly characterised, Shaggy and Scooby particularly which is hardly surprising. Their humour is still very amusing, the food jokes are classic Shaggy and Scooby and they shine when in the graveyard. Their chemistry with Daphne is also great, again not surprising considering how well they worked together in the 80s. The reveal is surprising, despite the physicality of one of the perpetrators being very implausibly different to who they're disguised as. The voice acting is great and the supporting characters are not stereotyped.

Concluding, excellent episode once again. 9/10.

Catchy tune for chase scene
MarkLynnIreland12945 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I recall this episode very well on a DVD before the dinosaur one.

I see that this is where Shaggy has the extremely hot and spicy sauce Five Skull which later was used in invisible madman episode.

I do like how Shaggy and Scooby are the ones who rescued Daphne after she was tied up and gagged. There does leave a question over that scary howling noise heard at the very end which Shaggy and Scooby thought was Daphne.

The mystery involves the ghosts of two soldiers known as the Leland Brothers and their first appearance was the scariest. Lorelei has her hotel which she refuses to sell objections from Cyrus T and other suspect her brother Taylor.

This is also another episode of Scooby-Doo with a catchy tune (by the Atomic Fireballs) for the chase scene which makes some viewers get up and dance to and do like it has a waterpark scene.

"Big Scare in the Big Easy" episode - A Fun and Engaging Watch!
hdoerr-0210810 January 2024
I watched the episode "Big Scare in the Big Easy," and I have to say, it was pretty good. While it wasn't the best episode I've seen, it kept me entertained. I would give it a 7 out of 10 stars.

The plot was decent, but nothing too special. The mystery was gripping enough to keep me guessing, but it didn't appear exceptional. However, the episode's setting in New Orleans added a new flavor to the show, which I appreciated.

The humor in the episode was hit or miss, with some jokes making me laugh out loud while others fell flat. However, the jokes that did work were enjoyable and added to the overall fun of the episode.

The animation was consistent with the series' style, which is always a plus. While nothing particularly special or noteworthy about it, it was still decent and enjoyable to watch.

Overall, I'd say "Big Scare in the Big Easy" is worth watching if you're a show fan. It's not the best episode, but certainly not the worst. The mystery is intriguing, the humor is entertaining, and the animation is consistent with the rest of the series.
