The title alludes to the phrase "In remembrance of things past," originally from Shakespeare's Sonnet 30 and used as the title of one English translation of French author Marcel Proust's semi-autobiographical novel.
The actor playing the crazy Mr. Conley is none other than Tom Hatten. Baby Boomers who grew up in Southern California will remember him fondly as the host of a children's show on KTLA in the late '50s and early '60s, featuring "Popeye" cartoons, where MrThe Hatten dressed up in a sailor hat as the amiable "Skipper Tom", and regularly demonstrated his talent as a cartoonist on a large sketch pad.
He also hosted KTLA's "Family Film Festival" from 1978 to 1992, where he showed classic family films To another generation.
He started out as a TV news reporter, and also did a fair bit of acting, mostly on TV. This was his next-to-last screen credit. He lived to be 96 years old.
