Manhattan financier Noah Ridder and his lush daughter Katherine are suspiciously uncooperative concerning the disappearance from San Diego airport of her husband, his right hand, Patrick Kent, in charge of defense against law suits from investors whose savings the firm lost. Martin proves himself even to Danny, on mission in California, where they discover Kent lead as bigamous double life with working class Hispanic single mother Amalia, as stepdad to her son Robert, and as silent partner in her brother Luis's bar. Patrick was also trailed by a man, who turns out a former secret agent, on Noah's payroll, suspected of 'selling corporate secrets', actually as whistle blower.
