Lovely Ending, it keeps the show's premise in mind, but maintains the emphasis of the reality of fate and tragedy

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was one of my favorite endings; I loved to see Xena meet this unforgettable and tragic end and sacrifice herself for the thousands of lives that she had taken earlier in her life. But that was merely the moral aspect of the episode's greatness. What of the awesomeness of Yodoshi and his "Dragonball-esque" battle against Xena; that was quite memorable. I loved the fight scene as well as the villain Yodoshi. There was great impression placed on Xena's final battle; but the best part was the ever-so-eloquent slicing beheading of Yodoshi in one swift strike, allowing his head to roll on the ground as Xena turned away from her fallen opponent in anime-style awesomeness, not looking back at the grisly visage of her final foe. This was by far one of my favorite death scenes in the series as well, for being such an honorable battle in essence and conception. Also, I loved Xena's decision in the end to stay dead even though Gabrielle could have barely managed to revive her. All their journeys and decisions led to this fateful moment; the moment that Xena decides to perish and allow her vanquished souls to be freed from eternal torment in purgatory. And so, Gabrielle is seen on the boat all alone in the end, riding away into the sunset; but she keeps Xena's presence in her heart, which makes the episode's already great presence even more awesome. Personally, I prefer when episodes are of this tragic caliber to the light-hearted or goofy overtone. With full sincerity, if it were not for serious drama and tragedy befalling everyone, then the series would not have been as good as it was. This episode is a fine example of why the series was so great. It is because of these losses and sadness that envelops the show that makes it so special. If something were to last forever, then it wouldn't be as good. So I am one of the fans who loved this bitter and savage ending to this great story.

Really tore my heart apart

Warning: Spoilers
For the last two weeks, I kept watching the whole six seasons of XENA. I really enjoyed this series and just loved the relationship and tension between Xena&Gabrielle.

I read some spoilers before watching the last two episodes and I thought I had well prepared for a bad ending. Yet it still broke my heart into pieces. My tears never stop falling after Xena said:"Gabrielle, if I only had 30 seconds to live, this is how I'd want to live them. Looking into your eyes. Always remember, I love you." What really destroyed me is that Xena chose to stay dead and left Gabby, meanwhile the reason was so freaking far-fetched.

In my opinion, I think Xena had already completed her redemption at the beginning of season 5, when she became an angel. So I would rather accept she died with Gabby in battling just like the end of season 4 or season 5(episode 19) than dying for redemption.

To me, the most painful things are they wandering through the world to find the ghost of each other just like in season 2 and the beginning of season 4. And Xena did promised Gabby that she would never leave her again.

I love XENA so much, no other show can surpass its place in my heart. The stories of Xena and Gabrielle will stay in my heart forever.

To be honest, these two episodes were really beautiful and showed us some truly wonderful scenes. I know I'll rewatch XENA for many times, yet the ending makes it very painful for fans to rewatch the series for knowing all the goodness between the two characters will turn into loneliness in the end.

So, even though I understand they will continue their stories in many after life, I still can't stand the thought that Gabby will continue her journey without Xena for the rest of her life. I'm really sad that their wonderful and amazing journeys and love stories in this life didn't have a better ending, it hurts every time I think about it.

I cant recall ever being so bored out of my mind while watching the finale of a show. I had to force myself to watch this minute by minute with many breaks in between, just to get it out of the way and move on. This is a problem for a lot of season 6 as well, the writers seem to have run out of ideas for interesting scenarios to throw the main characters into and its very hard to like or connect to anything. You can watch with interest while Xena fights people only so many times, the show needs more. If this was just another random episode i would give it a 3/10 and move on, but because its a series finale.... 1/10 it is.
