Amy becomes a smizmar
Tweekums22 June 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Amy is finding it difficult having a long distance relationship with Kif so when Planet Express is contracted to make a delivery near where he is stationed she asks if they can take her to see him. The Professor refuses but she stows away on the ship and takes control while the crew are sleeping. By the time they wake up Amy has landed on the Nimbus. Once together Kif takes her to the 'Holo Shed' to show her various worlds he has created for her. As one might expect it malfunctions and evil holo-characters run amok on the Nimbus... until Zapp tries to shoot then but punctures the hull causing a breach. As Zapp, Kif, Amy, Bender, Fry and Leela desperately try to hold on Amy tries to save Kif but his hand slips out of his glove and he falls towards the hole; grabbing each of the others in an attempt to save himself. Not surprisingly everybody survived but something has happened to Kif... he is now pregnant! It turns out that his species become receptive when in the presence of the one they love get pregnant through DNA transfer when they touch hands... so; whose hand did Kif touch? Once the test has been carried out Kif must return to his home planet to give birth... but will his smizmar be with him.?

This was a fun episode that fans of Amy and Kif's relationship are bound to enjoy. Whenever Kif features Zapp is bound to be there too and here he provides the laughs I've come to expect from his character... funniest being when we see him naked in the background as Kif talks to Amy on the video phone. The Holo Shed scenes were a great spoof of the overuse of holodeck malfunctions in the 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' that featured evil characters that ran amok on that series. When we learn who the other parent is Amy's reaction is believable and ultimately uplifting although anybody looking forward to seeing them raise children will be disappointed as the tadpole-like offspring swim off into a swamp where they will grow for the next twenty years. It is a nice touch that when you watch it again, knowing how Kif gets pregnant, you can see that he only makes hand to hand contact with one person as he falls towards the hole in the hull.
