Another Polly Pocket movie means MORE stereotyping! OH boy...
DarkSide1978 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Well... I'm back here again... Reviewing another Polly Pocket movie based on the dolls... joy...

I reviewed Polly Pocket: Lunar Eclipse and I was NOT impressed AT all! The characters were stereotyped, the plot was predictable and it was filled with a lot of filler making it an awful movie. But what did I expect from a movie that was 22 minutes. As a matter of fact, that movie looked like a rejected Nickelodeon pilot from the early 2000s...

But now I'm reviewing Polly Pocket: 2 Cool at the Pocket Plaza which was released in 2005, two years after the first one's release.

The movie starts out with Polly talking to her friends where a hotel called the Pocket Plaza (which I assume belongs to her dad) is opening this weekend and Polly has a standing reservation in the Penthouse Suite. Polly also states at she can bring anyone she wants so Polly and her friends can explore the hotel before it's opening. Polly also announces that she's inviting her British cousin Pia and they would be performing alongside their favourite pop star Eric Wilder who is basically like Aaron Carter or Justin Bieber because he has good looks and they say he's so dreamy... ugh. Polly's rival Beth overhears them and she has a plan to sabotage them on Live TV to make her more popular than Polly. Polly then arrives at the hotel and then we get introduced to her British cousin Pia who is stereotypically dressed in a school girl uniform. We then get introduced to Pia's nanny named Miss Throckmorton whose appearance for some reason scared me when I first saw her, she reminds me of Mrs. Mavilda from The Christmas Tree (Anyone remember that awful Christmas special from 1991?) Pia is then introduced to Polly's friends who think is Polly herself but when Pia tries to talk, Lea interrupts her and thinks Pia's (or Polly in their case) accent sounds fake. Then Polly arrives and they think that she's a clone... I swear Polly's friends are dumbasses... Polly and her friends have fun at hotel ordering lots of food, working out, hanging out at the pool, etc. Polly and her friends then are in a hot tub where Polly gets a call from her dad saying that he's stuck at an airport in Iceland and can't do the speech at the opening of the hotel. Polly is able to take place of his speech and Pia discusses joining Polly's band. However, Miss Throckmorton refuses to let Pia join Polly's band, they try to convince her to let Piah join the band, but it fails. Polly then has a plan to have her and Pia switch roles. Polly and her friends then give Pia a makeover, giving her new clothes and dying her hair blonde just like Polly. While it is a clever plan, Polly never changes her outfit or hair. So It's very obvious that Polly isn't trying to look like Pia. She just does an accent and that's about it... Did the creators of this movie even try? Pia then plays different instruments, but doesn't play them very well and Miss Throckmorton catches her and Polly acts like her to take the blame. Polly and her friends then go to the mall where Beth and her friends are and they think Pia is Polly and think she has been living a different life. They then follow them to the pool where they see Pia singing badly and think Polly has been lip syncing through out the years... Beth just believes anything to ruin Polly's reputation... Miss Throckmorton then appears and Pia acts like Polly. While Polly is practicing on her speech, Miss Throckmorton appears and Polly acts like Pia. Even though she still looks like herself. While walking, Pia bumps into Beth and after Pia leaves. Beth grabs a hold of Pia's passport and junk... Then Beth sees Polly and Pia and her first plan fails. But she has a second plan, She thinks if Polly isn't able to make it to the show, and since Pia can't sing, Polly's band would be humiliated on Live TV, Wasn't that your plan before Beth?! Polly then forgets her speech in her hotel room and while running, she bumps into- You guested it! MISS THROCKMORTON!!! She believes Polly is Pia and locks Polly into her room. Pia is now going to do the speech and is copying what Polly says since Pia has a headset. However Miss Throckmorton catches Polly and Pia almost gets humiliated on TV, However she comes up with her own speech. Miss Throckmorton apologizes to Pia and lets her join Polly's band, Beth's plan obviously fails, the band performs a generic teen pop/pop rock song on stage and the movie thankfully ends.

In my opinion, this movie is 100 times WORSE than the first movie for these reasons.

1. Pia acts like Polly with different clothes and different hair, as for Polly... She does an accent and that's about it... She doesn't even disguise as Pia and her plan comes off as phony and unrealistic...

2. Miss Throckmorton and Pia only appeared in this movie. Pia is able to join Polly's band at the end is very useless since she never appeared in the last movie. It's like they forgot about them in PollyWorld. (which I will be reviewing next) What was even the point of introducing them when they'll never be mentioned again... Why?!

3. The only moral I see in this movie is "Don't be yourself, be like everyone else"

4. Pia and Miss Throckmorton are OFFENSIVE examples of British stereotypes! All this movie promotes is stereotyping!

5. EVERYONE IN THIS MOVIE ARE IDIOTS!!!!

Final Thoughts?: This is one of the worst animated movies I've ever seen and I do NOT recommend this movie whatsoever.
