That Disco Episode ***1/2

Original Air Date: November 8th, 1998

When a new disco opens in Kenosha, Jackie drags the gang there for a fun-filled Saturday night of fancy dancing and dating faux pas. Knowing they needed to elaborate on the interpersonal relationships that had been introduced into the show, the writers maneuvered the group into a social setting which allowed them free reign to strengthen and separate their interconnected personalities. Both Kelso and Eric feel the first pangs of jealousy in their respective relationships with Jackie and Donna even as Hyde and Fez become formidable characters who break out of the background mold they've been cast in over the last few installments.

While it's not as consistently entertaining as the previous six shows, this episode gets a merit badge for trying hard. From the whacked-out stoner's circle to the father/son aftermath as Eric tries to run down Red's list of chores, the effort is certainly present. Even the interstitials try harder, with Fez sucking helium from a balloon in order to try his hand at chipmunk-sounding salsa singing. Some of the funniest scenes come from Kitty Forman trying to teach Hyde how to dance; including a first person perspective camera angle made all the more humorous by actress Debra Jo Rupp's exquisite ability to provide picture perfect comic facial expressions. Overall however, "That Disco Episode" proves that not every portion of the series can be a classic piece of jocular genius. Still, this sitcom's "average" is markedly better than most of their competition's best.

That Disco Episode (#1.7)

Warning: Spoilers
There is a disco open and they all are going there. Hyde doesn't know how to dance and Kitty teaches him which makes Bob who overlooked them think there is more going on. At the disco Fez uses the greatness of dancing to dance with Jackie and makes Michael mad.

Kitty teaching Hyde to dance was hilarious. The lessons themselves were fun. The whole Bob thinking there is an affair was a great addition to the fun. And she did a great job because the scene of Hyde dancing with Donna gave me goosebumps. Even though I want her and Eric together, they had so much chemistry there.

What also made me laugh hard was that stoner dialogue which they thought was very intelligent.

1x7: That Disco Episode

Warning: Spoilers
Man what a run we got going on right now, 3 fantastic episodes in a row.

I really like the main plot of this episode with kitty teaching Hyde how to dance kitty is pretty much Hyde's mom especially later in this season when he moves in with the Forman's and this episode really shows how much she wants to see Hyde succeed. The B plot connecting with the main plot It's pretty small but funny with Bob thinking kitty is cheating on red with Hyde it's so dumb but hilarious, Bob thinking he catches them cheating is a funny scene. Also bob telling red is really funny and bob realizing it could be dance lessons. Good job bob, it's small but It makes the episode better. One of my favorite circles, Hyde decides he's going to the disco. Kelso went to the mall his line delivery was perfection. Eric saying kelso is toasted. Fez then wanting toast. Hyde talking about people in India fasting. Eric wanting to record the circles. I again kike how they are bringing in the culture of the 70s by going to a disco like kids in the 70s would have done. The scene after the circle might even be funnier with red listing chores off to Eric and him trying to rerun them back to him it's so good. The ending is nice with Eric and Donna dancing in the driveway of Eric's house. I also love the ending credit it's so funny with the gang listening back to the tape and Hyde uncontrollable laughing always makes me laugh.

Actually the stuff at the disco is probably the worst stuff of the episode for me I'm not a huge musical guy especially after seeing that 70s musical. Jackie and fez dancing I don't hate they just don't build upon it and they should have I know they kiss but they prolly should have dated at some Point in the show before Hyde cause in season 8 it just felt like a rebound and I don't like it. But it enough to still make it one of my favorite episodes of the season and of the show.
